Hints & Tips
1.Your venue
When choosing your venue for the ceremony or reception, look at the surroundings as these will be the backgounds to some of your photos. Also remember that the time of year and the time of the ceremony will make a huge difference to how much natural light the photographer has.Fantastic grounds and landscaped gardens are great when the weather’s good. But unless you’re happy to be splashing about in puddles or freezing, be sure to choose a venue that has sheltered areas and rooms away from the guests where you can have photographs taken if the weather isn’t that nice. Secondly, choose a venue with a manager that will let you choose the timings of your day. If spending time with your guests and having great photographs is important to you, you’ll value a venue that can be flexible over the time you get married and the time you eat.
2. Make time for the photographs
Most of us have been to a wedding where the photographs go on forever. You hate it, the guests hate it. Everyone gets bored.
But your photographs will become an heirloom so the group shots are important. What’s the answer? Don’t have a huge list of group photographs. When planning your wedding try and allow at least one and a half hours between the end of the ceremony and the start of the meal, its not that the photography will take that long, but you will want to allow time to chat with your guests and they will all want to congratulate you, also to say hello to friends who may not be going to the reception.
And beware the venue that insists you use their 'approved' or ‘preferred’ suppliers. What if you’re not sure if what they offer is right for you? It’s your day and should be your choice.
3. Be ready on time
Before your wedding we'll chat about all that's going to happen, so that we are all in the right place at the right time. If you start running late you may not have time to do all the things you planned.
4.Allow extra time
A good idea is to allow time for unforeseen hold-ups. What happens if you get stuck in traffic from the nail bar or hairdresser. If you’re traveling to have your hair or make-up done, it’s best to allow more time than normal. The last thing you want is to be stressed because you’re running late.
5. Ushers
Helping to organise your guests for the photographs is a really important role. So try to choose ushers who know as many guests as possible between them and who can exert some authority and get things moving when necessary.
Alternatively I recommend using an experienced toastmaster
6.Don't worry if your dress gets a little marked or creased
Every bride wants to be perfect when she makes her big entrance but the very nature of a wedding means that the dress may get marked, I know it was expensive but please don’t let it worry you.
7.Relax & enjoy yourself
The less aware of the camera you can be, the more natural your photographs will become.
Now the day has arrived its time to stop worrying and let go, relax and enjoy the day.
What will be will be. Your photos will all look so much better if you are happy and enjoying everything.
